How to heal the skin on my ring finger that is sore and irritated under my wedding bands?

It's really red and irritated. And I'm not sure what caused it to happen. I'm guessing it's from constantly washing my hands and the skin staying damp under my rings. But how to I get it to heal? I don't want to go without wearing my rings but it really hurts. What can I put on it?How to heal the skin on my ring finger that is sore and irritated under my wedding bands?
When skin stays wet for a long time, it gets sore. You can try creams and stuff, but that will just be treating the symptoms. To stop the problem, you need to stop getting the water trapped under your rings. Don't wear them overnight- this gives your skin a few hours to breathe, and take them off when you wash your hands, dry your hands thoroughly, and then put them on. Talk to a doctor if it won't go away. How to heal the skin on my ring finger that is sore and irritated under my wedding bands?
Try putting some antifungal cream on it.
well take your ring of when you wash your hands but dont put it next to the sink cause you never now what happens lol put it away from the sink....try putting aloe on you finger or get this special cream from a store to put on it....i hope you finger feels all better lol :-)
get some neosporn oitment at the drug store;it heals wounds in a couple of days....put in on 3times a day ;and leave it on....lol
Apply pure aloe plant directly to the skin.
When I first got married, mine did the same thing. I put cortisone cream on them.

I figured out that it's not necessarily the water getting trapped under them, but when I really payed attention, I wasn't rinsing the soap out from under them. Now when I get done washing, I rinse around the rings really good and dry really well. I haven't had a problem since.

Also I had to quit sleeping with them on.
All of the other answer's are very good, and the water getting under the ring is the cause of the problem...I had a similar problem because my band was very wide, taking it to the jeweler who sold it to us..his solution was to cut the ring in half, splitting the width of the band into two narrow rings for me, this cured the problem. I wear the other half of the ring on a chain around my neck. (if your sentimental about the ring you can do the same thing) Take Care..Happy New Year.
It could be the water issue discussed in detail by the previous 6 postings or it could be allergies. Either some substance you are allergic too got between your ring and your finger or you became allergic to the ring itself. People are and/or become allergic to metals all the time. I would suggest drying your hands but put the ring on another finger (that it will fit of course) for a day or two. If it breaks out on another finger without the dampness issue, you will know you developed an allergy to the metal (gold/silver, etc.). Wish you the best of luck.
