How to get smooth silky skin?

I don't understand my skin type and i can't afford a dermatologist. If i wash my skin with soap, it becomes fry and after a while it becomes really oily. So are there any home remedies or natural ways of getting a smoother, silkier and healthy skin.

P.S: I know drinking a lot of water helps. How to get smooth silky skin?
Good Answers - here's the problem -your skin will naturally make what it perceives to be enough oil to both lubricate and keep the Ph balance of your skin. So, every time you use (bar) soap, it dries the skin and signals the gland to produce more oil.Voila-oily skin. Unless you have really terrible scaring acne or a skin disease, it usually is not necessary to go to a dermatologist. There are plenty of great OTC products, but it takes about 14 days for your skin to ';acclimate'; to a new product- and you may see more breakouts temporarily(because of what is already under the skin that has to come to the surface) - You need to get on a regimen of basic good skin care, which consists of 3 products - #1)a cleanser, #2) an astringent, #3) a moisturizer. I would use the products from the same line (brand)as they are chemically designed to be compatible. Try Neutrogena, Almay(hypoallergenic), or other OTC-if acne is a big problem and you can, order Proactiv, but I'd try the others first. Give yourself 14-20 days for your skin to adjust- and just make it a habit. Cleanse before going to bed, then astringent(which may burn if you have open acne), then moisturize. In the AM-just rinse with water and light moisturizer or SPF (and make-up, if you're a girl). But never go to bed without washing your face-your skin is exposed to dirt and grime and oil secretions all day, and cells regenerate while you're resting. above please find link for advice. also, i suggest you find a moisturizing soap or gel. i don't know what type of soap you use, but when you go to wherever you purchase your personal care products ask what type of soap would be best or read the labels. moisturize every time you take a bath, and always keep it on hand - that is the key to smooth skin. you are one up, drinking water helps a lot. good luck...
Don't use bar soap. I recommend going to Target and getting Alba Coconut Milk face wash. And for a lotion I recommend Pond's dry skin cream. These will make your skin really soft. For oil control I recommend Burt's Bees facial powder tissues.
Sounds like you have a mixed or oily skin.

There are special bars that you can use for facial cleansing. Don't use the soap that you wash your hands and body with.

Drinking a lot of water? Unfortunately that is just a myth.
shave, use lotion, apply facial masks of cucumber and avocados.
umm...lotion? duhh haha use lotion 2 times a day and ur skin gets all silky and smooth:)
