What do you use to neutralize an acid burn to the skin?

They said it was ';caustic acid'; and it happened on a drilling rig. They had nothing to put on the burn at the time. I heard baking soda will neuralize it. Is this true? It is only a minor burn on his face. Any help would be appreciated. What do you use to neutralize an acid burn to the skin?
Acid has a ph of 1 and caustic has a ph of 14

Both acid and alkali are dangerous when used alone

Mix the two together and you are sure to get to 7

Problem is that there is no way, besides using a ph meter to know how much alkali (caustic) to use on the acid to neutralise it.

So from an acid burn you can go to an alkali burn.

Besides skin has a ph of 5.5 so it's best to treat acid burns with water, lots of water to lessen the damage of the acid by diluting it.

Then again, it depends on the type of acid burn.

If it is phosphoric or hydrocloric acid, water will solve the problem. If it is a more reactive acid such as sulphuric acid which reacts to mositure, it's best to wipe the excess acid first with a dry rag and then use lots of water.

This will lessen the burn mark as sulphuric acid is very reactive in water. The use of a fish oil rag to wipe excessive sulphuric acid is also recommended if it is on hand.

The key is to react fast and water is your friend - there might not be time for anything else besides getting to a water source. What do you use to neutralize an acid burn to the skin?
u can put soap on it cuz it a base and can neutralize the burn of acid.
Well, the acid is very likely gone now. Acid when making a burn, is actually neutralizing it's self. It balancing it's PH (1-7 is acid and 7-10 is alkaline). To avoid an acid burn it needs to be flushed at once, that very second with lots of water. Baking soda in the water helps to raise the ph more quickly avoiding a more serious burn.
the best bet was to flush it out with water but its to late now
