I am a magician in the madison, wisconsin area and I am creating a new effect for my stage show. The effect involves simply touching a candle and having it light. One of the chemicals would be on my finger and the other on the wick of the candle. Is this a plausible trick? What are two chemicals that 1) will not burn/irritate your skin and 2) will burst into flames on contact?
Ok, this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but i do have something that you might find interesting.
It's something called Hot Ice.
You get sodium acetate, and water. And when you touch the mixed chemicals with a flake of sodium acetate, the result is an endothermic reaction that creates a soft ice-textured chemical that is hot.
The resulting product can be reheated and reproduced over and over again.
Here is a video link to basic instructions and some cool things to do with it, maybe you can implement it into one of your tricks as a fire then ice trick.
Hope this helps, good luck with your show!
