Are there any popular actors or actresses in the Philippines with dark skin?

Almost all of the actors and actresses have light skin. I guess that is why there are so many skin whitening products out here. And why light skin is looked at so highly upon especially with the entertainment industry.

Just curious, are there any popular actors or actresses with dark skin in the Philippines? If so, who are some of the attractive actors and actresses with dark skin? Are there any popular actors or actresses in the Philippines with dark skin?

Yes of course. Not all actors or actresses in the previous years have light skin or fair complexion. It is only now that most production or movie outfit or television required those fair or light complexion. Because now a days it is commercialized. It is not what the talent of the person have but it is how they look in the camera.

There is so many skin whitener products in the Philippines because Filipinos are in the true sense of the word are dark or brown skin not white. It is only through the years that mixed marriages like Filipino and Americans, Fil-French, Fil-German, Fil-Pakistani, Fil-Indian, Fil-Bangladeshi, Fil-Thai, Fil-Chinese etc. has evolved. That is why most children have fair skin complexion and doesn't look Filipinos anymore.

The actors like Vic Vargas, Vic Silayan, Fred Panopio, Chiquito,Dindo Fernando, Johnny Delgado, Efren Reyes Sr. etc. have dark skin. Actresses like Elizabeth Oropesa, Liberty Ilagan etc mostly from the 60's have one way or another brown skinned but not too dark. Being light skin complexion now a days is the IN THING so time is changing. So we have to change with time. This is what the audience or the looks they like right now. So everybody loves to buy a whitening soap, a whitening cream etc...or even go to medical clinic to get the desire they want. It is 2009 now not 1920's.
If you're asking for more than just kayumangi like Angel Locsin, there is also supermodel Wilma Doesnt. And until recently when she became an endorser of a whitening cream, the comedian Jinky Oda.

Another lets not forget, Chocolate!

There are actually a lot. But I think these are not the people you are referring to right? There are none at all I can think of who are actually matinee idols. They are actors and actresses but not teenage hearthrobs. For me personally, Angel Locsin is no. 1 though. She's not too pale and not too dark. Just right.
hmmm....do you think the media has to do something about it?

cuz it would be more universally acceptable than those shows with almost all filipino casts. Acceptable in the sense that it would be bought by other countries so that it would be featured in their television shows.
